Open Burning Information

April 18, 2025 - Burn Ban lifted

The open burn ban has been lifted, and we are under normal operations for open/controlled burning in each municipality.

Any properties in the Stoughton Fire Department response area (except City of Stoughton where open burning is prohibited) need to call into the Stoughton Fire Station to leave a message for any open burning you plan on doing. Any restrictions will be communicated by person or by the open burning line voicemail (608-873-7218).

Please monitor the weather, and DNR fire danger maps. All fires need to be extinguished by dusk, and we ask that you be wary of burning during any windy weather. We also ask that you be mindful of the dry conditions we currently are in when deciding on your if you’re going to open burn.
